I had a photo shoot last month with this darling girl and her mother. When I arrived she was in a cute tank top with yellow flowers on it, a matching yellow cardigan, and a big flower in her hair. When I was done taking the photos I had planned on, I asked if we could take some just for fun. The girl asked if she could change, "By all means!" I replied. As she raced up the stairs, her mom rolled her eyes, "This sharing clothes thing is driving me nuts!" I smiled and thought of that exciting time in my life when you begin to grow out of little girl's clothes and start to become a young women. She came down the stairs in this striped shirt of her mothers, but the flower was still in her hair. I thought how fitting it was to describe the state of transition she was in - her mother's shirt and a flower in her hair. It really is such a brief moment in time, I was grateful to be able to capture it with my brush!

Amazing, you have a gift child. Keep putting it out there for the world to see.
Perfect!
This is such a nice painting! It reminds me of "The Girl With the Pearl Earring."
You know Kim, I was thinking of Vermeer the whole time! I almost thought about giving her a pearl earring. :)
Love the metaphor. I too remember the in between stage and wearing my mom's clothes mixed with mine. She is a beautiful girl inside and out!
